This property is in a High Risk area for arsenic in bedrock water wells.

This map shows areas with a relatively high, medium, or low risk of arsenic in bedrock water wells. Risk zones are based on bedrock geology, not measured well values — actual arsenic levels can vary greatly from well to well. Testing is the only way to know whether your well water meets the Health Canada guideline of 10 µg/L.

Arsenic in Nova Scotia groundwater is naturally occurring, arising from the weathering of arsenic-bearing minerals — primarily arsenopyrite — in the Meguma Supergroup metasedimentary rocks and associated granites that underlie much of southern and central Nova Scotia. Drilled bedrock wells are more likely to encounter elevated arsenic than shallow dug wells in the overburden aquifers.
